A Brief and Vague History
SPOILERS GALORE for Heavensward Expansion and after.

Also, intentionally leaving a lot of things vague so people don't get entirely spoiled but get the general history.
- Ardbert was born on the First, a shard of a star/planet that was split into 14 pieces, in a normal family for his world.
- Decided that he would go off and become an adventurer on his 18th nameday
- Did just that
- Over time, befriended a core group of adventurers whom together became Big Damn Heroes known as the Warriors of Light, who all at some point or another gained Crystals of Light and also the Echo ability
- Became TOO BIG of heroes, killed the Ascians on their world and accidentally [REDACTED], which caused a Flood of Light to start swallowing up the First
- Got told by other Ascians that the only option to "save" the First's souls (not lives) was by merging it with the Source, the main world, by causing a cataclysm on the Source.
- Killed themselves to travel to the Source as corporeal souls. Renamed themselves the Warriors of Darkness. Ardbert became Arbert.
- Through a bunch of Heavensward Patch Quests, were put in contact with a servant of Hydaelyn
- Servant agreed to travel with their souls to the First to stop the Flood of Light
- Watched his friends and the servant fade away as they spent themselves to stop the Flood
- Only able to save the region of Norvrandt
- Wandered around as a disembodied soul for 100+ years, unheard and unseen
- Player character shows up and is the only one that can see/hear him
- All of Shadowbringers, where Ardbert slowly grows closer to the player character and eventually teaches them to fist bump
- Eventually sacrifices his soul to merge it with the player character's in order to save their life and the world and also kick some ass
