CHARACTER INFO
❥ Name: Ardbert
❥ Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
❥ Canon Point: The last of his actions before the Dying Gasp
❥ Fandom OC Approval: N/A
❥ History: Wiki Article on Ardbert that, for the record, has a COMPLETELY WRONG personality section. They took him being horrifically stressed out as his actual personality.
❥ CRAU?: N/A, but he'll be Era's Ardbert. They adore each other.
❥ Personality: Warning: SPOILERS (Bullet points are allowed here too, please provide canon examples though. Please try not to exceed 1,000 words.)
* Loves his friends
- Protecting them as a meat shield
- Multiple long speeches about how they're in this together or that he has their backs
- Showing concern when they're hurt
- Showing affection in general
- Wouldn't kill a friend who betrayed them out of love (but most certainly killed those who manipulated her)
- Will get between people and danger in an instant, especially because he's a tank
- Can shittalk his friends in an "affirmative insult" way and gets shittalked right back (especially about how quickly he gets drunk)
* Loves humanity
- Attempted to heroically save the world with his friends
- Killed himself and his friends so they could travel to another world to save their world
- Sacrificed his very soul to save his world
- Countless deeds of sacrifice
- Also gives heroic speeches about how they have to save their world and cannot fail
* Gets cynical/angry when extremely stressed
- His entire appearance in Heavensward patches where he's often on the edge of anger and he's constantly frustrated that he can't just swing his axe and fix things
- The beginning of Shadowbringers when his world is on the edge of doom until the Warrior of Light starts changing things for the better, reminding them the world is tired of heroes
* A small part of him will never give up
- Survived 100 years of solitude and sensory deprivation (taste, touch, smell) if even just barely
- Journeyed to another world despite the odds and requirements to try to save his world
- Gives one of the best pep talks in gaming history before teaching the Warrior of Light how to fist bump... when the WoL was expecting potential death at any minute
- Attempts to save a medic and another soldier from a monster despite knowing he actually couldn't... but he had to try anyway
* Charismatic Leader
- Friends follow him through thick and thin
- Commands the battlefield/does call outs while emphasizing people's skills and teamwork
- Convinces Urianger of their mission's importance enough that he does a double-cross-but-actually-helping-everyone stunt to save Ardbert and Co's world that had a small possibility of actually working
- His ability to easily convince people to go on an almost never-ending adventure with him (literally his entire group)
- Pep talks from his friends/teammates are Super Effective on him... especially because they have no problem ganging up on him in turn when he needs it.
* Sometimes Daft
- Arbert is not a good fake name, Ardbert
- Totally missed the fact that Lamitt was in love with him (!!!)
- Him and his friends decided to wear all black and call themselves the Warriors of Darkness instead of the Warriors of Light to hide their identities
- Got tricked by a hobgoblin and didn't even think it could be leading him to its friends until his ass got stomped and he nearly died until Lamitt found and healed him (baby Marauders are not the brightest)
* Empathetic With high EQ
- Multiple times able to clearly understand what a person is feeling, summarize it, and then empathize with their pain (such as standing up for Lamitt before she was officially banished for violating tradition)
- Is fully in control of the Warrior's Inner Beast, honing its fury to drive himself beyond normal limits while still fully capable of navigating a dynamic and complicated battlefield
- Kept track of how people denounced the Warriors of Light after the Flood of Light nearly swallowed everything (and reiterated their feelings on heroes) while never blaming them for their feelings
- Became very emotional when he understood how important the medallion he gave Seto upon overhearing it
- Literally gives pep talks to the Warrior of Light and states knowing exactly how they feel multiple times
- Gets emotionally invested in the Warrior of Light's journey through SHB
- Even tries to give the Warrior of Light some privacy every now and then because who wants a spirit following them all the time?
- Realizes precisely that as horrible as it felt to be separated from humanity for 100 years that Emet-Selch's burden of missing his people for thousands is a pain that must be vastly worse than his
- Absolutely loves it when the Warrior of Light invites him onto the first ride up The Ladder in decades
- Isn't afraid to talk about how much things affect him or hurt him with those he trusts... even if he does sometimes keep secrets about some of the worst
- Despite how angry or upset he gets, he never truly takes it out on others; he will outright tell people why he's upset/angry/stressed
- He may be quick to anger at times when frustration or pain boils over, but will eagerly listen to reason and calm down rather than hold onto it
- Empathized with Nyelbert, Branden, Lamitt, and Renda-Rae over each of their own personal trials, supporting them through all of them... and even Cylva, later
- Updates the WoL when they awaken after almost dying with everything they'd want to know and Ardbert found out for them
Loves a Good Fight
- FIGHTING THANCRED WAS FUN
- Is literally a Warrior
❥ Abilities: (Oh, please bullet point this one...)
* A Warrior of Light - immune to tempering (mind alteration) by Primals and possession; capable of seeing others pasts; capable of amazing feats beyond ordinary warriors
* Powerful enough Warrior of Light to murder minor Ascians by pulling up a light axe of aether and smash through Ravana's parry shield like it's paper (although he had some help from friends, probably)
* Can swing a giant axe around like he's in the Color Guard (Just a minute but SERIOUSLY)
* Warrior, Level 90-100 equivalent - He can practically one-shot primals that even current level 80s cannot and Holmgang your entire gang (A good target for some nerfing, if necessary)
* Aetherial Pocket (to mirror Era) to store things (with the same limit of 10 items)
* The Echo: Weaker than Era's, but he still gets those headaches and still sees those horrible moments in your past that you want no one to see
❥ Extras:
* Ardbert needs his body back, please! And also, Shadowbringers Spoilers, Era has his shard of their combined soul while he still obviously has his own simultaneously. So weird soul connection stuff will happen. The Deerington mods have mentioned that Ardbert can share Era's dream guide. He also, canonly, has been able to touch Era's soul and provide energy/help when he was a wandering spirit. Their souls are canonly the same distinct hue. They'll likely be able to get simple impressions/share energy/have awareness of each other through this even tighter soul bond.
* Because Ardbert's been out of his body for... a long while, he's going to have issues with fine motor skills. Gross motor skills he's still good at. He's also extra aware of everything in terms of touch/taste/smell, sometimes to the point of it being overwhelming. It'll take time to get back to his full capabilities.
* Also if he dies, because of various canon things (being a wandering soul and being a soul given form before that), he could probably be a wandering soul for the duration of his death that only Era could see. The Echo can grant people who die with it the ability to sometimes continue existing if powerful enough.
* Lastly, he has a physical manifestation of being a Warrior of Light: his fire-based Crystal of Light. It's not technically an item since it's a part of him, just like any crystals that Era has gathered in her soul over time.
❥ Did your character bring anything along (limit 3 items) with them?
- His giant axe
- An Amaro Horn
- One of Seto's feathers
❥ Which god will they choose to support? Or do you wish to be randomized?
Diacht because you can't be empathetic and protect others unless you honor yourself by being true to yourself

SAMPLE
A very long series of TDM threads.
Mod Decisions on Power Changes
2) Regarding the sharing of the dream guide with Era: at this time, we cannot allow it. However, we do allow the sharing of cross-canon powers through the reward system and he could gain it through that once he's accumulated enough points.
3) His "level" being equal to 90-100 will be going through a level sync while in Hugtopia down to the current max. level of 80. Any game-breaking abilities would be nerfed automatically regardless of level. (No one-shot kills, and to use something like Holmgang for multiple people, he'll need the support of several people as he did during the events of Heavensward.)
