★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★
Skills:
- Farming and animal husbandry
- General Adventuring Skills (maps, quests, tracking down villains, repairing equipment, bandaging wounds, absorbing people into your party's biomass)
- General Medieval/Renaissance level of knowledge
- Reading and writing
Canon Abilities:
- Warrior Abilities (I'll start him at 80 since that's the Shadowbringer's level cap, but he can eventually go up to 90)
- The Echo - basically gift of tongues (both ways); can experience flashbacks from others' lives; and did fulfill the condition to transcend death and have help traveling to another world at the time with a Crystal of Light in his possession
- He is no longer a Warrior of LIght, as his crystal has been spent and given to Seto
- As such, he cannot exist as a spirit anymore. His soul was absorbed by the player's Warrior of Light to defeat Emet-Selch. So he'd need a regular body.
- Aether manipulation, can transfer it to others or accept aether from others, which can power up his abilities like Holmgang to grab everyone instead of just one person.
- Also FFXIV standard Japanese RPG inventory (which is currently completely empty)
- He does not have the ability to hold his liquor
- He snores, especially when drunk.
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: Amaro wings (all four of them), amaro ears, and a halo with coloring similar to his fire Crystal of Light. He'd also get random bouts of amaro fluff. The halo he can't hide, but he could probably force the others down, except when the fluff can't be contained.
Role Reasoning:
Ardbert would be a legend. He spent his entire life trying to protecting and saving others. Him and his friends became Warriors of Light, recognized by the Mothercrystal for their great deeds. He selflessly used his reward money to rescue his amaro, Seto, from being slaughtered for being 'worthlessly' emaciated and nursed him back to health. Ardbert killed his friends then gave his own life so that they could journey to another world in order to try to save their own. He merged himself with the soul of the Source's Warrior of Light to save their worlds.
Being a legend is going to mess him up. He thinks he's a failure. He committed terrible acts to beast tribes on the Source in an attempt to save his world. The people of his world have even turned him and his friends into villains, blaming the Flood solely on them.
But if he and his friends hadn't been themselves, Urianger never would've devoted himself so thoroughly to helping them by 'betraying' them only for his actions to bring about the beginning of the First's salvation.
Being a legend would force him to begin coming to terms with it all.
★ Personality ★
Option 1.
Ardbert is unfortunately too smart to be fully classified as a himbo. He's the type of man who literally inspires people to follow him to the end of the world. The hero type willing to go to any lengths to protect the world he loves, even if he must cast himself as a villain. Even if he must shed the blood of himself, his friends, and others in order to save the lives of an entire world.
He loves a good fight, but he truly does not love shedding blood. He would rather turn in a villain than end their life. But he knows it's sometimes impossible for the greater good. Yet he still spared Cylva's life after she revealed she was the mastermind beyond untold amounts of suffering. "But Ardbert, dear Ardbert, would not forsake his heart. In the end, he chose mercy. He chose love."
Under great strain, he can lose his temper, lash out with words, and become cynical, but who doesn't? Even after everything he went through, however, he let his faith in people and the world be restored simply by following the Source's Warrior of Light around as they became the Warrior of Darkness. With faith restored, he gave up his independent existence without hesitation to save both them and all of existence.
Ardbert chooses to be a gentle person whenever he can. He noticed Seto's intelligence immediately when he first laid eyes on the amaro and bought him from the authorities who would have just put him down. Seto was nursed back to health from his former master's abuse, both physically and mentally. This required great effort and patience, as taking care of an emaciated amaro meant a great amount of work on Ardbert's part with the understanding that Seto would take time to trust him fully.
His full potential was reached once already: over a hundred years ago alongside his friends, confident in his abilities, full of love for everyone around him, and sure of his path. Going through the hell of nearly destroying their world by accident and the efforts they went to save it followed by being alone for over a hundred years has meant a reversion. Ardbert has regained his faith in people, but many of his self-doubts from his time of accidentally nearly destroying his world remain. Not to mention, he's still very unused to people, and has some trust issues considering his friend betrayed them and caused untold suffering to their world. As a result of his time stuck as a spirit, he's never had the chance to process everything that happened to him or even the loss of his friends. He also has lost serious confidence in his ability to read people, as Cylva fooled them all... except he had been right about her in the end, although he never got a chance to see it.
My goal is to have him reach his new potential by gaining new friends, processing his trauma, relearning to be confident in himself (and his judgement of people), learning to lean on others more equally, and not being the only one of several people the world tends to lean on. A more balanced life.
